St. Lawrence College SIFE Team Once Again Has a Great Showing at Regionals

Posted on March 12, 2010

We have taken a first and third place in two categories at the ACE Central Regional Exposition on March 8 in Toronto.

With support from all levels of St. Lawrence College plus community support and sponsorship from Unity Savings and McCoy Bus Service the SIFE team here at St. Lawrence College once again had a good showing at an event that sees 17 teams from Ontario and Quebec compete against each other in various categories.

The First place win was in the Green (Environmental) Sustainability category. Presenting in this category was Wahida Lahkani, Colin Patchett, and James Vinkle.

The third place win was in the Financial Literacy category. Presenting in this category was James McCartney, Rowena Jordan, and Spencer Dossett.

The SIFE team’s wins are more than just championships or good rankings. Each category represents real contributions to not only the community, but also the world. The initiatives presented at the regional competition involved helping non-profit organizations deliver more affordable housing; more food to those in need; as well as teaching students how to substantially make their money last longer.

The following is the press release from ACE Canada about our winning presentation:
