St. Lawrence College is proud to house many student-run organizations, including Students In Free Enterprise. Engaging the community is only one of the three strategic priorities that St. Lawrence College endeavors to achieve.
The St. Lawrence College SIFE team has just finished its third year of operation. The team currently comprises of 40 active student members, which has quadrupled since the first year of operation and is still expanding. The composition of the team includes five executives, seven team leaders, with the remaining members serving as support for all projects. The team also seeks assistance from two faculty advisors and ten Business Advisory Board members.
In the past three years the team has had tremendous success bringing home a total of 22 awards. Just a few of these awards include “Best Start Up Team” during it’s first year, third place in the “Overall, Lets Can Hunger Challenge” during it’s second year, and “National Semi-Finalist” in all 3 years years, and “Go-Green Challenge National Champion” this year. It is also a great honor that the SIFE St. Lawrence College team was able to present Shawn Geary, owner of McCoy Bus Tours, with the “Business Advisory Board Member of the Year” award, recognizing his dedication and generosity to the team.
To date, SIFE, St. Lawrence College, manages seven projects within the Kingston community, two being pilot projects beginning this academic year. Our goal is to expand and better our existing projects to increase their impact in the community. The two pilot projects are both extensions from our current financial literacy projects.
